THE NMTF Making Markets Matter campaign travelled to Dartford in Kent and was judged to be a great success.
Market Manager Martin Lee said: “Everyone had a particularly good time, and the event was well worthwhile.
“Not only did it lift the image of the market but it also went down well with the traders.”
So much so that they are now planning to form a branch of the federation.
The market was filled with MMM orange — on giveaway carrier bags, balloons, wristbands, and on the polo shirts worn by the promotional team.
The Prize Voucher Vault proved once again to be a big hit with the youngsters, as did the face painting.
And Past President Eric Tweed did a great job on the Shopping Basket Challenge, which asks shoppers to guess how much cheaper it is to buy at the market than at a supermarket.
Dartford’s Deputy Mayor Ian Armitt was there to give the council’s seal of approval to the event.
Coun Armitt spent about two hours walking round a very busy market and chatting to as many traders as possible.
The Dartford MMM is the first in a series planned for this year.
Forthcoming venues are Llangefni in Anglesey, Long Eaton in Derbyshire, Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria, and a four-day event as part of an international market in Darlington.
Slots are booked up for this year, but operators or branches wanting MMM in 2008 should contact the federation’s publicity department on 01226 352806, email publicity@nmtf.co.uk.
