DESPITE a disappointing summer on the weather front the federation’s Making Markets Matter campaign continued to delight shoppers at venues as far afield as Birmingham.
Our national President Faye Quigley was accompanied by Past President and Board member Mimi Rivington, Past President Terry Meakin and Executive Board member Alan White.
On one of the few hot days they took time out to have a chat with traders on all three markets – the outdoor and the Bull Ring and Rag indoor operations.
Outside the Rag they met Head of Markets Matt Kelly, who felt events had gone well.
The Birmingham event was unusual in that the location for the MMM voucher vault, cookery demonstrations by master chef Geoff Tookey and the giveaways stall was outside the Council House, a good walking distance from the markets.
Down at the markets themselves the traders organised their own entertainment, including a pair of impressive stilt walkers.
